Load shedding largely suspended
The energy regulator ZERA put the national run at 213 days without load shedding on 27 July 2026, up from 188 days at the end of June. ZESA's group CEO has said load shedding should end beyond 2026. Day-to-day outages now are usually a local fault, cable theft or planned substation maintenance for a few hours, not a scheduled load-shedding programme. Exceptions still happen: a fault on the Warren-Alaska line caused a national blackout on 6 July 2026 that was restored within about four hours.
